Just like Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, the round hills of Aloxe-Corton are perfect for viticulture. In this region almost only, red wines are made. White wines from this region are very rare. The grape of this region is of course the Pinot Noir. Reasonable dark wines are made from it. The young wines have aromas of raspberries and strawberries. The good wines that age is more intense and get aromas of plum, leather, mushrooms and cinnamon.
Food and drink
The wines of Aloxe-Corton have an impressive power and therefore require strong aromatic food. The wines have structure and quite a bit of tannin so that firm meat with sauce can be perfectly combined.
