The wine regions of Spain

Spain is one of the oldest wine countries in Europe. The country produces many different wines.

The best wines are made in the north of Spain. The vineyards are close to the mountainous landscape, which means that the grapes can also be cooled in the warm Spanish climate. The famous Rioja wine region is of course one of the most important wine regions in Spain. But this great wine country has much more to offer. For example, beautiful white wines are made in the Rias Baixas that are certainly worth the effort. But Ribera del Duero also produces strong long-lasting red wines. Finally, Spain is of course known for the Sherry and the beautiful sparkling wine

MONTERREI

The D.O. Monterrei takes its name from Monterrey, which means “royal mountain” in Castillian. Monterrei is the Galician spelling. The fortress on top of a hill still overlooks the vineyards, which lie south and north of the road between Madrid and Galicia,

RUEDA

Rueda wine is known for its fresh aroma and taste. This has everything to do with the Verdejo grape which is the most prominent in the entire region. Soft, fresh and aromatic wines with firmness come from these warm and dry regions.

VALDEPENAS

Valdepenas is the outpost in the far south of the large La Macha region. However, the wines deserve a separate DO and the producers have managed to get through the foreign market sooner than their northern neighbors.
