A large variety of grapes has been planted around the village. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc have been planted for the red wines. For the white wines grown with Vermentino, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. The Italian grapes Sangiovese and the black Malvasia are used for the rosé wines. The wines of the Bolgheri DOC are not issued young but must first mature in the cellar for four years.
