Grape varieties
In Lalande de pomerol, Merlot is mainly used as a grape. The permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot.
Cabernet Franc
The Cabernet Franc is often compared to the Cabernet Sauvignon. This is primarily due to the name, but the grapes are actually related to each other. Cabernet Franc is often added to the “bigger” brother in Bordeaux to add fruity aromas.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely popular. Both the wine drinker and the winegrower love this grape. This is of course primarily due to the aromas and taste that the grapes give to the wine.
Merlot
The Merlot has not really been able to build its own reputation for a long time. He was in fact used in most cases to mix with Cabernet Sauvignon. The grape now has more and more room to show itself because more and more wines are made in which Merlot plays the leading role.
Petit Verdot
The petit verdot is a blue grape variety that is among the best in the world. The grape, which has a thick skin, is very small and has a low yield. This when the grape already yields returns because because the grape ripens very late, it regularly happens that it does not reach full maturity.
