Rueda

Rueda wine is known for its fresh aroma and taste.

This has everything to do with the Verdejo grape which is the most prominent in the entire region. Soft, fresh and aromatic wines with firmness come from these warm and dry regions. A region with its own unique character.

The Rudea wine region

Rueda is located 170 km northwest of Madrid. Since planting in 1972, Rueda has developed rapidly as a wine region. In 1980 the region acquired the prestigious DO status. A continental and windy climate prevails on the flat plateau of Rueda. Temperatures far below freezing, storm and hail are no exception in the winter. The summers are long and hot, with a very large number of sunshine hours. There are years that no precipitation falls. When there is precipitation, it is noticeable by the higher quality wine that is then produced.

Verdejo: the grape of Rueda

In Rueda, the native white verdejo grape was planted on a large scale in the 1970s. The Verdejo grape is counted among the best white grape varieties in Spain. The Rueda wine region is the best wine region when it comes to the vinification of the Verdejo grape. The Verdejo grape turns very aromatic, soft wines with “body”. In addition to the Verdejo, the vineyards also grow a lot of white sauvignon blanc and the somewhat spicy viura. Rosé is also made from tempranillo and the garnacha.
