The region is less well-known than the surrounding regions, but good red wines are made. The red wines are of course made from Syrah. The wines have the aroma of black currants. The ability to mature is not as great as that of Hermitage wines, but they certainly have potential. But if you want to compare then you have to count on a lighter version of wine from the North of the Rhone. In addition to red, white wines are also produced in Saint-Joseph. These are made from the Rousanne and Marsanne grapes. Much less is made white than red. The wines are sturdy and are walnut-like.
