Salta
With its elevated position in the middle of the Andes and regular earthquakes and volcanic eruptions
The Salta wine region does not offer the most exemplary conditions for cultivating wine. However, the winemakers from the Cafayete sub-region have learned to live with it, as evidenced by the excellent reputation of the Torrontés wines from this area. White wine is therefore the most important wine product from Salta. In addition, wineries make courageous attempts with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Salta stands out for its megalomaniacal high established vineyards. The pinnacle is a plantation at 3015 meters, reportedly the highest in the world.
